Rockford Fosgate Power T1652 6.5" Full Range Coaxial Speakers Review

(More customer reviews)i am a serious audiophile and have been into stereo equipment for over 30 years. i had my first car stereo installed in my car when i was 14. t1652, these speakers rock! i replaced a 400$, 15 year old set of memphis AR-MS6.75's component speakers with these. the fosgates sound just as good, even being coaxials. the highs are spot on and crystal clear. the bass is low and tight, not as low as i would like, but plenty good if using a sub, easy 65hz. these will be an awsome factory replacement as well. sound quality is awsome. i am driving mine with an old school precision power 30x4 amp, (PPI). after hearing these i will be getting a set of t1462's for my dash speakers. why spend a ton of money for marginal gains in sound quality. deck, JVC 9350 arsenal with 3 rca outputs. PPI 4430 30x4 amp. JL10w6v2 in spec ported box @ 36.2hz port tuning. JLaudio 500/1v1 sub amp. fultron 4" in the dash board, alpine 1' tweeters on "A" pillar fosgate t11652 in the doors, PPI 2/3 way crossover. all of this crammed into a chevy s10 extended cab. these are 1 day old, so i can not wait to get them broke in and really pour the coles to them. all in all an excellent set of speakers at around 100 bucks or less. the only negative is the tweeter mount holds my door panel out about 1/4 inch from the door. i did not want to cut the door panel to make thes fit, it is fine and undetectable. the cone area gained from this configuration is worth it. these will top load mount just fine if you want to cut the door panels. these fit the holes fine but i had to drill holes for the mounting screws in the factory plastic speaker bucket. you would have to do this to any car for any speaker though. GET A SET AND JAM!

Infinity Reference 6020cs 6.5-Inch Two-Way Component System (Silver/Black) Review

(More customer reviews)I replaced two pair of Infinity Reference "shallow mount" 6.5" speakers with two pair of these components. Wow, wow, wow!! Simply powered by an Alpine head unit they transformed my car into a sound studio. Everyone writes about "hearing things in your music that you'd never heard before", but Man! Some live tracks (like Dave Matthews or John Meyer) you can hear people in the audience coughing, or talking lightly. You can hear all the details as their fingers slide down a guitar string. Depths to the bass that I've never noticed. I've tried listening to entire songs and only paying attention to one instrument or background vocalist. They're incredible.
I ordered these at the same time as an Infinity 4x 75 watt amp, and almost didn't install it because it already sounded so good. After switching from head unit power, to a high-power amp, I noticed tighter bass, deeper reach, more punch, and higher volume levels before distortion (in fact, with the amp I can turn it up louder than I could possible stand without any break-up. With the head unit you could start to hear the bass clipping at higher levels.)
It's amazing the clarity and separation of each instrument. Infinity have really made a great product with the 6020. Go buy it and enjoy!

I have owned this monitor for just barely 2 years, and the motor is defective. At every bump on the road, the monitor would automatically close, which drove the kids...and me crazy!! I originally had this professionally installed, and now, the technicians stated that the motor is defective/broken. I am disappointed and really was expecting a much more reliable product from Sony.

Whether keeping the kids entertained on the drive to grandma's or rehearsing your sales presentation on the way to the next meeting, the Sony XVM-R75 7-inch flip-down LCD provides a welcome distraction (as long as the driver isn't watching). The monitor provides wireless viewing in your choice of widescreen or conventional 4:3 formats. It connects through the included XA-117 connection box which transmits data directly from your trunk-mounted DVD changer, game system, or other compatible peripheral device.

Kenwood Kdc-Mp745U CD/AM/FM/USB Receiver Review

(More customer reviews)Car audio seems to be stuck in an odd spot. Most seem to be saddled with 1990s technology and pathetic MP3 support unless you are willing to buy an Ipod or a satellite radio subscription. I'm still waiting for a car stereo with proper MP3 support, but this Kenwood is pretty close. Let's get down to the pros and cons:
Pro:
* Sensible MP3 support with only a few big limitations (listed below). Other MP3 players I checked out had all sorts of absurd weaknesses like one player that literally dumps all of your MP3s into a difficult-to-navigate list.
* Big and easy-to-read display.
* USB is in the rear so that you don't have a flash drive sticking out of your dash.
* Huge number of settings and options. They not only exist, but the UI of the main panel makes it easy to change the settings.
* The audio is great. In fact, the audio is too good for its own good! You can easily crank up the levels to a point that still sounds clean but overheats the player to the point it enters a safe mode where it lowers to cool down, returns to loud, lowers to cool down again etc...Cons:
* USB cannot even power a small laptop-style harddrive even though my laptop's USB port easily handles it.
* MP3 storage devices are limited to 256 folders. Even though this thing can handle a 32GB flash drive, and probably more, the 256 folder limitation is a significant, and unnecessary, barrier that seems like a relic of the 1980s that will force you to make concessions with your music library. Considering that my 32GB chips are already maxed out, you can assume there will be little point in upgrading to 64GB, 128GB, or higher flash drives during the time you will own your vehicle.
* No mute button! How can there be no mute button?
* Settings are lost when the power is completely cut. No, turning off the ignition will not lose your settings, but you will sometimes find mechanics disconnecting the battery when performing maintance.
* Must use buttons instead of a dial to change the radio station.

* Disc drive is a CD drive instead of a DVD drive. I do not expect video capabilities from this, but considering the CD format is long obsolete and DVD drives handle all of the functionality of those old drives it sure is unfortunate that the disc drive cannot handle MP3 from DVD.

* This complaint is a bit unfair but I have a Sansa Fuze MP3 player that froze the Kenwood and it had to be reset. If you connect the Sansa, then turn on the car's ignition that process seems to screw things up and it causes the headunit to freeze. It happened twice. The Kenwood never said it was compatible with the Sansa Fuze, but it was a bit odd that the Kenwood wasn't designed well enough to at least not crash when unexpected devices are connected.

(More customer reviews)These speakers are awesome! They have excellent clarity. I have them installed in an S10 with Alpine Type S 4x6 speakers in the dash, two 12 inch subwoofers behind the seats, and an Alpine IDA-x001 head unit. I have passive crossovers installed on these speakers, so I can't comment on the bass response of these speakers, but the mids and highs are excellent. I have them powered by the in-deck amplifier, and these speakers could certainly handle more power than is being supplied. An external amplifier would probably be a good choice with these these speakers, but it is not necessary. They sound loud and clear just the way they are. They sound better than several component speaker systems that I have heard in the past, and I would definitely recommend these speakers to anyone wishing to upgrade their sound system.

Alpine V-Power MRA-F350 - Amplifier - 5-channel Review

(More customer reviews)I was hesitant at first but found a good price so why not. You can not beat this. I repeat you can not beat this. Sure you can only use this with certain Alpine head units, who cares. I never knew what I was missing until I installed this in my 2007 Dodge Ram. Head unit is an Alpine D106, front and rear doors are MB Quart components, extra set of MB Quart tweeters overhead rear deck, 2 10" punch slims push by an MB quart 200 X 2 bridged amp, and the Din sized alpine center channel. Took me a bit of playing around with the settings to get everything like I wanted and when I did, the system woke up.
Everything you need for a true 5.1 surround sound in your vehicle is in this one neat little package. I was looking at purchasing a sepearate amp in addition to an Alpine digital processor when I came across this little gem. Saved me at least from having to pay 400-500 more dollars to get where I am at today. At 50 X 5 it is may be just a tad underpowered but I'm nowhere near to complaining.
Note, make sure to change the switches on the side of the head unit to EQ from the Normal settings.
I put in Plant/Page No Quarter and went straight to Kashmir. This sounded phenominal. Next beginning scene of Saving Private Ryan, incredible. Jurrasic Park T-Rex scene? You start dodging around looking for the critter.

(More customer reviews)I just installed a CDA-9886 in my car. I have always used Alpine products and loved them and this one is the best I have had so far. It plays everything, MP3, WMA, ZUNE, IPOD, AUX and best of all USB. I connected my 3rd Gen Ipod nano and it worked just fine. I have heard people have switched back to 9885 because 9886 does not turn off the ipod when you switch the car off. It may be fixed in the future but this is no issue for me. 9885 does not have USB capability and this is important as far as I am concerned. USB flash drives have no power concerns, lots of storage for cheap and so convenient. Why would you want to leave your ipod connected to the deck anyways? Thieves would break into your car for less than that. Anyways, if you need a nice looking HU that plays all types of media and offers some of the best features available today( bluetooth, voice dial..) I really recommend this unit.

Alpine Type-X SPX-17REF - Car speaker - 75 Watt - 2-way - component Review

(More customer reviews)I have these installed in my 1998 Honda Civic coupe. I have an Alpine head unit and an Alpine MRP F300 amp that sends 50 watts RMS to these speakers which I have installed in the front doors. I don't have a sub-woofer so these and a pair of Alpine SPR 69C 6x9's make up my car audio system. I've had Pioneer and Rockford Fosgate components in other vehicles and I am very pleased with these for the price. I purchased them at Dealer Cost Car Audio dot com, with no tax and free shipping for $176, there was also a $20 coupon online which made the price great. With components like these the high's and mid's are perfect. My car is older and its a Honda so the road noise is pretty loud at 70 MPH, these help me forget about the road noise during my commute. If you think component speakers like these will add solid low end bass, you are wrong. The low end sound is good but not near sub-woofer good, if you want booming base get a sub. I rock out with hard rock and get G'd up from the feet up with hip hop and these speakers perform better than I expected. I would recommend these to anyone who wants a quality pair of component speakers who enjoy listening to any song's full dynamic range. There are cheaper speaker out there, but in my opinion Alpine's quality is awesome and these are worth the price.

Alpine iDA-X200 In-Dash Radio/MP3 Player (Black) Review

(More customer reviews)I was surprised there was so little info on the web about the Alpine iDA-x200. It's one of the only car stereos that can control your Creative Zen and other mtp (media transfer protocol) mp3 players like an iPod. When you plug your zen into the usb port, it takes about a minute of searching before it will play music. You can search by playlist, artist, album and others. You can skip to the next song but you can't speed search through a song (this limitation is only with mtp players). Also, when you turn off the car and come back, it will return to the beginning of the track you were listening to (only with mtp players). This means, for practical purposes, you will want to carry your podcasts and any lengthy tracks on a flashdrive or ums mp3 player. The alpine can speed search tracks on ums devices and it even remembers exactly where you left off within tracks when you disconnect the device and reconnect! Plus you can do all the same searching by artist, album, track, file name ect. So you're probably wondering, why not use a ums mp3 player exclusively? Two reasons. First, you won't get playlists. If you want playlists, you have to get a mtp player or iPod. Second there are currently no small ums flash players with large capacity (32 gb) and great sound (Sansa Fuze blows in comparison to Zen V Plus). Two other quick notes, there is no cd player and going to radio presets requires a few clicks. Finally, I want to mention how much better the sound quality is when you allow the Alpine's 24 bit burr brown d/a converter to process the sound (using usb connection) rather than letting the mp3 player decode the sound and send it into the car via minplug aux connection. If you current stereo plays mp3 cds, do a little experiment and listen to the same song on mp3 cd compared to your mp3 player plugged into the aux. Keep an eye on the horizon for when the Microsoft and Ford sync exclusive deal ends. Then you may be able to buy a non-Ford car or an aftermarket head unit that works with mtp mp3 players and has voice command. Should be within a year. One more thing, if you upgrade your Zen V firmware, the Alpine will control it too. Also, I can't tell you about the power of the internal amp because all my speakers have a separate amps. Even though it's the only game in town in aftermarket car stereos that can control mtp music players, it does an admirable job.

I've been underdriving them with a 52 (peak) X 4 headunit and they still respond pretty darn good and have alot of bass for the size. Unfortunatly my headunit isn't allowing these babies to shine so I've invested in an Amplifier. I know it's going tobe the second night and day upgrade since I put the speakers in to replace my factory ones.
I recommend these. Edit: I am now powering these with 80 watts per channel (4 Channels and a seperate sub with another amp). They rock the house. Excellent sounds and value.
