Infinity Reference 6020cs 6.5-Inch Two-Way Component System (Silver/Black) Review

(More customer reviews)I replaced two pair of Infinity Reference "shallow mount" 6.5" speakers with two pair of these components. Wow, wow, wow!! Simply powered by an Alpine head unit they transformed my car into a sound studio. Everyone writes about "hearing things in your music that you'd never heard before", but Man! Some live tracks (like Dave Matthews or John Meyer) you can hear people in the audience coughing, or talking lightly. You can hear all the details as their fingers slide down a guitar string. Depths to the bass that I've never noticed. I've tried listening to entire songs and only paying attention to one instrument or background vocalist. They're incredible.
I ordered these at the same time as an Infinity 4x 75 watt amp, and almost didn't install it because it already sounded so good. After switching from head unit power, to a high-power amp, I noticed tighter bass, deeper reach, more punch, and higher volume levels before distortion (in fact, with the amp I can turn it up louder than I could possible stand without any break-up. With the head unit you could start to hear the bass clipping at higher levels.)
It's amazing the clarity and separation of each instrument. Infinity have really made a great product with the 6020. Go buy it and enjoy!

(More customer reviews)These speakers may not be the best sounding speakers but for the price you are paying they are good if you need a factory replacement or want to change your current speakers. The tweeters sound really good on these speakers and the bass is decent, but I don't care too much about the bass since im not spend too much on the speakers. I brought the speakers since the paper cone door speakers in my nissan maxima are blown and so far im happy with the speakers they sound way better then the factory speakers I had in my car.

I bought a pair to complement another brand and I loved them so much that I ditched the other brand and now have four of these bad-boys in my truck. I'm driving all four speakers in parallel using an ancient Kenwood PS150 @ 2 Ohms. The base and mid-range are unbelievable. The highs are ear piercing. They completely drown out my diesel Dodge Ram; I didn't think that was possible.
You do need a good amp to get the full benefit of these speakers - they LOVE to be driven hard. Although they won't produce the window-rattling ghetto base, you will feel in the floors and seats. Dynomat or similar vibration dampening material is pretty much a must.

The vented crossover housing adds to the system's versatility by offering hidden wire channels. The channels are designed to facilitate easier, more professional-looking installs without sacrificing access.
Other features include a pole-plate heat sink that promotes better heat dissipation for superior power handling and reliability; a flat spider that enables faster and longer excursions; flexible woven leads sewn directly into the spider for greater dependability; an electronic tweeter protection circuit; rock-solid, acoustically inert stamped steel baskets with a rustproof gunmetal gray finish; and muscular, computer-optimized ABS grilles.
The DB 6500 system, which offers a frequency response of 40 Hz to 22 kHz and a peak power handling of 300 watts (100 watts continuous), requires a mounting cutout diameter of 5 inches for the main speakers and 2 inches for the tweeter. The system is also backed by a one-year warranty.

(More customer reviews)I paired these up with a JVC XR810 head unit using NO amp. You don't need an amp using these speakers and a good quality head unit. Mine is rated at 20 watts RMS and 50 watts max. They sound very clear, much better than coaxial speakers! They are very loud using just the deck. Excellent highs with nice mids. Im very impressed with the quality in construction and sound. Trust me when I say get these!

(More customer reviews)the reason they sounded like that is because u fried ur voice coils. its easier to blow a speaker by underpowering them. which is what u did. RMS is continus power, which is the recomended wattage. if u fall too far below this u can blow ur speakers.

Bass was strong enough to rattle doors. I wish I had installed these in the back deck. BTW - Picture in 1/1/11 Amazon page is not MMs but are db's.

(More customer reviews)These speakers perform better than expected for me. I thought since they were so cheap that they would sound cheap. They actually have great bass range. The tweeters are a little dull, but sound better than stock. They will be a good medium step as you work towards a better set. The speakers themselves are huge, they have a giant magnet on the back and will eat up space like you've never seen. I bought some 1" spacers and they work perfectly in my doors now. Don't use the factory wiring they come with, its cheap and tiny. Do yourself a favor and run to wal-mart and pick up their cheapest 14 gauge wire and you'll be much happier. The sound is way better with better wires. They will not take as much power as they advertise. I've got mine hooked up to about 90 watts and they sound great. No distortion or noise when loud. Still, too much power I'm sure will blow them. Overall good product and good price. I got mine for around 45 with free shipping.

they say they are oversized but they do fit in my honda civic with its small car door.
Cons: The cost of installation is very high.
It took a few hours for these to get installed (at Best Buy).
Summary: I just got these for my Honda Civic. I compared them to every speaker at different stores that I could find. These were BY FAR the best when it comes to the high range. For those who can appreciate a full range of sound in their music, I would HIGHLY recommend these. If you want a good low frequency speaker, obviously these are 6.5", but they are the best I heard for that size. The Sony speakers I heard were about as good as these for low range sound. The installation is complicated and very expensive where I took them. I never intended to try it myself. The installation will probably cost around 30-40$ more for this type with separate tweeters unless your car is already fit for it.

(More customer reviews)This component system would have gotten 5 stars but when i received them i was excited so went to work right away on installing them got them all in and so far it had looked like they were made out of good materials. but when i turn on the stereo i had great sound out of one side but the other side's woofer was quiet and the tweeter didnt work so i tested them and they worked great. i then opened up the cross-over box only to find a bad solder joint. resoldered and they work great. would highly recomend as long as you get one with good solder joints.

(More customer reviews)I have purchased over 100 items from Amazon and been more than satisfied with their service and products. This is the first time that I have reviewed an item and unfortunately it is not good. The speakers are good but not as good as I had hoped. They lack in mid-bass and have a "canny" sound. The highs are awesome, except for the fact that I blew one of the tweeters within 6 months of buying them. This brings me to the purpose of my review. I called Boston Accoustics and asked how to get a replacement tweeter and they informed me that Amazon nor Amazon's sellers are authorized Boston Accoustics dealers. I find this to be very dissappointing that Amazon would allow products to be sold by companies that are not authorized to sell the item that you buy through Amazon. Shame on you Amazon!
