I took out my stock speakers in the doors of an Acura CL and installed these pioneer 1672's. The sound is so much better over my stock speakers. I am driving these with a pioneer 4900 head unit without amps, so I can't really say how well the bass would or wouldn't be with more power. For my system the speakers do a fine job with bass and excellent with mid range and high frequencies. I highly recommend them for an upgrade from factory speakers!

Kicker 07DS600 6-Inch 160mm Coax Speakers (Pair) Review

Kicker 07DS600 6-Inch 160mm Coax Speakers (Pair)
Average Reviews:

The Kicker 07DS600 speakers are an excellent speaker with clear sound and ample bass. I only need the fronts for the 2-door Honda Civic, and they produce more than enough sound to keep the floor thumping and vocals clear. The bass won't rattle your windows or shake your mirrors, but its still more than enough for one to "feel" the beat.
Besides great sound, these also look like they will be durable enough for extreme temperatures from hot to cold. I would definitely purchase these again though I don't think I would need to.

Great sounding, easy-to-install midrange and highs make all the difference in your audio system. DS-Series Coaxial Speakers and 3-Way System provide the cost-effective ammo to keep up with your bass upgrade.
DS Speakers are the best value for serious, drop-in upgrades in your doors. The woofers bear a polypropylene cone, UV-treated ribbed surround, enduring voice coil, and an interior-pleasing fresh look. The half-inch tweeters take the performance cues of higher-end coaxials, using a super-strong neodymium magnet and PEI (polyether imide) dome for louder, better-sounding highs.
The DS Series comes in eight different sizes, including the new DS650 with 6.5-inch midrange drivers. DS Coaxials fit any speaker cutout, starting from the 3.5-inch DS350 up to a handy 6 x 8 DS680 if your ride requires them. The 6 x 9 offering is actually the thrashin' DS6930 3-way system which mixes in an additional 2-inch mid.

DS600 Features
CIMP (Curvilinear Injection-Molded Polypropylene Woofer Cones) A high performance composite, which remains rigid, minimizes cone flex and lowers harmonic distortion. The CIMP consists of a one-piece, injection-molded polypropylene material that moves as a piston, exhibiting power and control.
Enhanced BAM (Basket and Motor) Assembly Utilizes a high strength steel basket, features a low-profile open design, and provides a solid foundation for the precision-aligned motor assembly.
Optimized Polyfoam Ribbed Surround Radius This allows extended cone excursion for additional bass output and higher SPL, and couples the suspension into a conjoined linear-motion body.
High-Temp Polyimide Film Voice Coil Former improves sonic and conductive properties, and prevents thermal-electrical meltdown.
PEN Dome Tweeter with Neodymium Magnet Provides a smooth high frequency response with quick, detailed and spatially-correct imaging. PEN is an acronym for the space age material "biaxially oriented polypropylene naphthalate film"--your parents' tax dollars probably paid for its development, you might as well enjoy it.
High-Power Tinsel Lead Wires These eliminate broken leads and power loss, due to the common use of "insufficient-gauge" lead wires.
Ferro-Fluid Cooled tweeter voice-coil extends the high frequency transducer's life span.

Pioneer's TS-A1683R 6-1/2-inch four-ways now feature upgraded power handling of 280 watts max. (50 watts nominal). This year, they also feature something they've inherited from the D-Series speakers--a basalt cone. Pioneer continues to set an example with next-generation technology for improved sound: the tweeter, magnets, surrounds, the voice coil wire, the basket and more are all high-performance components that make up a great speaker.

Average Reviews:

I recently purchased these speakers to replace my factory front speakers in my 08 Civic EX. They sound is much crisper and cleaner throughout; however, the one thing it lacks is a rich bass sound. So if you are looking for that, these are not the speakers for you. Though these speakers are rated at 25 RMS it can probably take closer to 40 or 50 RMS as kicker under rates its products. I am very happy with the sound quality and you cannot beat the price.

Boss Audio Systems CH6530 Chaos Series 6.5-Inch 3-Way Speaker Review

Boss Audio Systems CH6530 Chaos Series 6.5-Inch 3-Way Speaker
Average Reviews:

Just to clarify, you get TWO SPEAKERS with this and any other Boss speaker item on the site (besides subs). I don't know what the other reviewer was thinking. He said they sound alright and "you get what you pay for" but he gave them 1 star? And he complained that he got two instead of one? Anyway...
These speakers sound great. I hooked them up directly to my head (a Sony aftermarket radio) and for a first timer I installed them myself in my little Honda hatchback in a couple of hours with a dremel (the first one took an hour an a half, after that I knew what I was doing so it was a breeze). They look really nice and can handle highs and mids real well, the bass gets a little iffy on higher volumes but hey, that's what subs are for. Less than ten bucks per speaker. You can't complain. I'm definitely sticking with Boss when I buy my amp and sub.
PS: If your car has a red theme going on, these look really nice.

Boss CH1623 Chaos Series 6.5 3-Way Speakers (Pair)
Average Reviews:

The Boxx CH1623 Chaos Series 3-Way speakers sound great. I can hear a definate improvement from the old stock speaks in my F-150. These 6.5"s are able to cause a constant vibration in my truck when the bass hits. Pretty impressive for a cheap costing brand.
Only issue I have with these speakers, was the description was wrong. When I bought it, I had bought 2 pairs. (Should be 4 speakers) Turns out, it's a single speaker per order. Not two in one order as advertised. Keep this in mind when you go to buy these.
Overall 4/5 Would give a higher rating if the description was correct.

Average Reviews:

I bought these speakers from Amazon a month or so ago. I have them in a 99 Pontiac Grand Prix. They sounded really good with the stock radio that was in the car. I now have them running off of a aftermarket kenwood deck. The high's are really good, I have not been able to hear very much in the way of mids or lows, but at the same time I was not expecting to. I have subs for the mids and the lows. I needed these speakers because my stocks were blown, and for a little better than stock replacements they are great. Overall for the price I gave these speakers 5 Stars I how this help someone on the fence about buying them.

Boss LA53 Outlaw 5.25" 3-Way Speaker with Diecast Aluminum Frame (Single) Review

Boss LA53 Outlaw 5.25 3-Way Speaker with Diecast Aluminum Frame (Single)
Average Reviews:

I misinterpreted the (single) portion of the description as meaning "one speaker" and ended up with 2 sets, my bad I guess. I had to ship the second set back and almost wasn't even worth it after having to pay 20% restocking fee and shipping.
I bought these to put in the back of my 97 Dodge Ram pickup as I replaced and amped my 6x9's in the front and added (2) 10" subwoofers. I was just mainly concerned with keeping the stock ones in there and being able to handle the RMS of my new head unit. I added 300Hz bass blockers and these speakers seem to do the job just fine. No complaints, nothing crazy good either. Can turn them up pretty decent without distortion, though credit for that definately has to also go to the bass blockers.

Pioneer TS-G1643R 6.5-Inch 2-Way Speakers (Pair) Review

Pioneer TS-G1643R 6.5-Inch 2-Way Speakers (Pair)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I had to replace broken factory speakers (paper or cardboard material) on my Integra '97, so I went to the shop to listen different speakers for under $100/pair. Polk DB651s were definitely #1, but surprise was this Pioneer that sounded better than Infinity or Sony (again, these are under $100/pair speakers). Polk had a clear, balanced sound from bass to mid to high. These speakers were not as clear but were well balanced.
So, I decided to put Polk speakers in front and Pioneer in the rear. Surprisingly, I could not hear much difference while driving, probably due to all the noise you get on the road. TS-G1643R speakers sound 1000x better than cheap factory speakers - I don't know if you can even buy something bad like what they put in the factory.
Pros:
- Installation was really simple. You need to get a cable adapter "harness" for your car, attach to the speaker on one side and to the car wire adapter on the other side, then put back original screws and that is it.
- Sound is great - you can hear nice bass and clear sound either for music or talk radio.
- It is so inexpensive that it is hard to imagine how they can sell it and make money.
Cons:
- Once you put speakers, the sound may not be what you expect - typically you will not get enough bass. After changing speakers, you need to use your receiver and set equilizer for the sound you like. In my case, on JVC receiver I restored default settings (everything "0") then added +4db for "bass" and -2db for "high". So, this is really not a "cons" but a note that you need to do something "extra".
If you want to get decent inexpensive speakers to replace factory junk, there is no competition in this price range to these speakers.

Considering you are buying the cheapest possible speakers, these are great speakers for your money. When my 14-year old OEM speakers began to slowly die, I bought these to replace them, and was overjoyed. You can tell the sound quality is only good, not perfect. But, if I wanted perfect sound quality I would have paid 50-80 dollars for a brand name. These speakers come with mounting screws and at least 6 feet of speaker wire for the pair of speakers.

JVC Car KDG340 50W X 4 AM/FM/CD/MP3 Receiver Review

JVC Car KDG340 50W X 4 AM/FM/CD/MP3 Receiver
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a great sounding CD/MP3 player, and much better than my factory system. It fit right into my 95 Legacy, without any dash kit. I bought the system because it had CD/MP3 playback and a front auxiliary jack, and the price was under $100.
The manual is pretty good, with some broken English. The volume knob is not tall, making it hard for your fingers to grab. The "equalizer" has several adjustments for bass, midrange, and treble, each having a adjustable frequency, level, and Q or slope. This allows the user to get very tweaked sound that I heard on no car audio with just the level adjustments. Unfortunately, adjusting the sound is not intuitive, (actually, not many of the functions on this stereo are intuitive), and you have to wave your hands around the the panel from one end to get into the equalizer mode, and to the other to make the adjustments. Once your in the adjustment mode (the small circular 4-way button), you have to be careful not to hit left/right button at the wrong time, because the track will change!
On the radio end, the user can customize the station names. If your searching for a new station the left/right buttons on the 4-way button is used. I have not been able yet to figure out how too switch between manual search and auto search, although it seems to switch from time to time. I prefer to have a knob to manually search through stations, which I think is typically quicker when going through a long range.
Although this is my first CD receiver w/MP3 playback and optional satellite/HD radio, bluetooth, functionality, I find it to be the worst of all CD receivers I had in terms of controls. On most systems, I can figure out settings/functions pretty easily from the button location and names, but this system just seems to have buttons in a spot where it fits and makes the face look nice and curvy. If your interested in this, or any other reciever, I would suggest going to an electronics store first to get your hands on the display models and testing. However, if you listen to similar sounding music most of the time, once the sound is optimized it will sound great.

Kenwood KFC-1662S 6.5-Inch 3-Way Speakers Review

Kenwood KFC-1662S 6.5-Inch 3-Way Speakers
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I replaced the factory speakers in my '97 Cavalier with four of these. They are shallow mount speakers, so they aren't nearly as deep as a normal 6.5". I was worried that this smaller depth would affect the sound, but I'm pleasantly surprised. The highs and mids are clean and articulate right off the bat. At first, the low end was disappointing, but after a week of normal usage during commutes, the speaker broke in and the low end filled out nicely. They won't rattle the door panels, but the music sounds nice and full. For being relatively inexpensive speakers, they worked out well.
By the way, these are great for low-powered systems. I'm only running them off of an aftermarket Sony receiver with 17 by 4 watts RMS. I bought the speakers because they are so sensitive: 92db and rated 2-35 watts RMS, 180 watts peak. For this price, the step-up from the paper OEM speakers was well worth it. Viva la Kenwood!
