(More customer reviews)I've had the JVC S590 for a little more than 2.5 years,I bought it off my friend when he was upgrading his HU with a newer one and it was already 3 years old at that time. Very solid performer,it only skips when I hit big bumps and its in a diesel truck (witch rattles a helluva lot). It looks really nice,but not nice enough to steal,this is proven by the fact that I left my truck unlocked (accident) in a mall parking lot,and 3 hours later,my CD player was still there.
Only down side to this head unit is that it is pretty old (7 years to be exact) and it is only a CD player. Its doesn't play MP3's or have a USB input to hook up to your iPod,you can however play CD-R's no problem.

JVC Car KDG140 50Wx4 MOSFET In-Dash CD Receiver Review

(More customer reviews)Well, considering I paid only 65 dollars delivered, it has an auxilary input for an mp3 player, and an extra sensitive radio tuner with like 14 presets on it, I would say it is a pretty good device. I installed it myself, and I have had zero problems with it. It sounds great, and it has like 6 different preset equalizer settings, plus a user setting if you don't like any of those. It has a really simple face plate (which is removable by the way) which is great because there is no chance of me hitting something and messing up all of my settings. It also came with a tiny little remote, which I never use and see no time in the future when I will use it, but the point is, it is there.
Bottom Line: If you want something that is cheap, reliable, and just plays cds and the radio, look no further.

JVC Car KDHDR30 In-Dash CD Receiver with HD Radio Tuner Review

(More customer reviews)I've been interested in HD radio for about a year and a half now. Over that time, I had installed two external HD radio tuners in my car. The first was Visteon HD Jump directly connected to my AUX in line through a JVC KD-SX75 head unit. When I sold that car, I bought and had the JVC KT-HDP1 installed in my new car, connected to the cars' head unit by an FM transmitter. After using these, I wanted to get a head unit with an HD Radio tuner built in, as well as having an input for an MP3 player.
I wish I had found this product much earlier than I did. This unit is ready for what I currently have, as well as ready for and will control iPods, XM and/or Sirius satellite radio, Bluetooth, and a JVC CD changer through the head unit out of the box, though you'd have to buy those products separately.
HD Radio on this is a great feature. In addition to AM and FM signals sounding better because of HD Radio, most stations display the track titles and artists of the songs (it's helped me find several songs to buy). Some stations also broadcast "sub-channels" of additional content. One problem here is that when there is a sub channel available, there is no indication of it. The only way to know it is there is to press the up or down buttons on the dial.
The CD drive is able to read MP3/WMA CDs (provided they aren't protected music files) which allows you to put about 12 CDs onto 1 CD. One complaint of mine is that you can't browse folders on the CD, going from one folder to another plays the first song of the folder. I must say the factory stereo of my new car spoiled me on this.
The AUX input on the front was a great addition to this product. I have my MP3 player attached to it, and it sounds good!
I brought this into Circuit City and had it installed by them, and am very happy with their installation. I'm not comfortable getting into the car to do this myself.

JVC KD-BT11 Single DIN In-Dash CD Receiver with Built-In Bluetooth (Silver) Review

(More customer reviews)Let me explain this product in one sentence: A steal for the price. The deck is comparable to most on the market right now other than the fact that it has bluetooth built in. I was using the bluetooth with my phone in seconds - making calls, streaming music. I have read reviews elsewhere that complain about navigating through the menu, I find these complaints unsubstantiated. Although not purely intuitive they were graspable without picking up the manual and looking things up - the only thing I had to revert to instructions for was setting the clock. The sound has been good, no objections there - and the equalizer functions are minimal but in my opinion adequate (I've had decks with crazy equalizers that have gone unused so this one was a good switch for me). I intend to add the ipod interface ($30-$40 on amazon) as well as the HD radio tuner (not on amazon at the time of the review but available for around $100 if you really look around). So, for about $300 I'll have a bluetooth, HD radio, that can control and charge my ipod (through the stereo). Try to find anything that can do all that for the same price and I'll give you a cookie.
A quick note about the bluetooth quality (in regard to talking on the phone). There is a mic in the stereo that picks up your voice as you hear the person you're speaking with through your speakers. As an artifact of this setup at times the person will hear their echo (one must deal with it). People will know they are on speakerphone, but conversations can be had with ease. So far all the calls I've made have been successful, in other words no one has said 'you've got to get me off speakerphone'. All in all I'm happy with the quality and I assume if my car were more airtight the person would hear me much better.
One potential problem: there is only one set of pre-outs, so those of you with big ideas about expanding drastically should look into a deck with front, rear, and sub outs (3 total). I however am doing a downgrade and the single pre-out worked fine for me.

As soon as I put these in I noticed a big difference in clarity. The mids and highs are amazing. I am hearing parts of songs I did not know where there. However, if you are looking for bass these are 6.5's so don't expect much. If you want BASS get a sub. Overall, I give them two thumbs up and would recommend them to anyone.

(More customer reviews)This is one hell of a unit. I have had it for 3months now and suffice it to say it has everything you could ever ask for. For example, if you decide to adjust the sound settings, watch out, you might rip your speakers or are you into satelite radios...it is Sirius and XM radio ready. Navigation is superb and as far as I am concerned, it is on par with my 2007 Yukon navigation system. I have watched full lenght movies on the screen with front passengers and connected video monitors on the headrests for rear passengers. There are so much more to this unit; bluetooth, MP3/ZUNE/IPOD adapter, 13million POI etc
I love it and will buy another if I ever have to.

(More customer reviews)While not certified to work with an iPhone, this stereo appears to be completely compatible. The iPhone charges. It can be controlled with the stereo or (by changing modes) with the phone itself. The supplied iPod connector cable seems to be well insulated, as there have been no instances of GSM interference.
Cons: Even with the dimmer turned on, this is brighter than it needs to be. It does not retain the Shuffle-by-album setting after restarting the car.
For the money, there is no other stereo that offers front AND rear connections.

JVC KD-AVX44 El Kameleon Vehicle Multimedia Receiver w/ 3.5" Monitor Review

My needs were/are: Ipod integration (including video playback), Dvd Playback, CDs, Bluetooth and of course am/fm. After a long hard search of single-din units I choose this model.

What I liked about this unit is you have a video out. You can hook up your headrest monitors and if you have a game system (Xbox, PS, Wii...what have you) you can hook it up to the video in that it has to offer as well (with full playback to your headrests). This just allows you to have direct connection to your cars speakers.
Dvd Playback. It is very good. Turn the car off, it'll start right back up where it left off.
Bluetooth. My boyfriend has a Pioneer DEH-P9800BT which I installed as well (A great unit if you don't require Dvd play back). Unlike the pioneer unit there is no mic to install anywhere and the quality still sounds pretty good on both ends. Doesn't matter what source you are using Bluetooth will alert you when someone is calling by pausing your music/video and showing the caller Id. You can accept or decline.
AM/FM. I was a bit disappointed that the unit didn't have RDS. I have been using a factory unit that had it and kind of miss that feature. Seemed like a feature they could have added.
Ipod. Heres where I am on the fence. I had been using a fm transmitter for my ipod and finally wanted direct connect because I could not take the quality anymore. I purchased an Apple Composite AV Cable (THIS WORKS JUST AS GOOD AS A JVC KSU20 CABLE) Of course, The quality was 300% better than before. However, The Interface is a bit slow. I really hope that JVC comes out with a firmware upgrade that speeds it up a bit. When I go to play "The Killers" it takes me approx. 1 minute to get to the letter "K". But for the most part I keep it on shuffle. The unit charges the Ipod as well.
Ipod Video. This is a cool feature. With either the JVC KSU20 or the Ipod Composite AV cable. You can watch any video off your ipod and direct the signal to the headrest monitors as well.
Pros: Great Bluetooth, DVD, Ipod Video integration with a sleek (no button look). Love the 4 setting tilt screen (great for stereo units closer to the ground)And Love the Proximity motion light as well.
Cons: For a single din unit JVC did a decent job, Ipod interface is really my only complaint. I had looked at the JVC KD NX5000. But didn't like the look of the unit or felt the need for crappy navagation. The menu interface feels like it should be more user friendly (getting to the ipod artists list has to be done by hitting about 5 buttons)
I have not used satellite or the back-up camera (which I plan to install soon).

A few new things.
Satellite Radio - Bought the Sirius Adapter through ebay. Though it's not as fast as a stand-alone unit, It sounds great and it's nice to have it integrated into the radio.
Iphone Compatibility - I was a little disappointed to see that, unfortunately, the Iphone does not seem to be compatible with the unit. Maybe with either an update from Apple or JVC this will change in the future. For now, I use my usable Ipod touch just as a music jukebox in the car and Iphone for everything else (gym, work, etc...). It's actually not a bad setup.
HD Radio - Buying the HD Adapter fixed my RDS problem. Any stations that send out artist info is now displayed. Without excellent reception, those extra HD stations are hit or miss. It's a nice feature to have. Quality can be exceptional at times.
I will keep those interested up-to-date if I come across any new info on the unit.

JVC Car KDG340 50W X 4 AM/FM/CD/MP3 Receiver Review

(More customer reviews)This is a great sounding CD/MP3 player, and much better than my factory system. It fit right into my 95 Legacy, without any dash kit. I bought the system because it had CD/MP3 playback and a front auxiliary jack, and the price was under $100.
The manual is pretty good, with some broken English. The volume knob is not tall, making it hard for your fingers to grab. The "equalizer" has several adjustments for bass, midrange, and treble, each having a adjustable frequency, level, and Q or slope. This allows the user to get very tweaked sound that I heard on no car audio with just the level adjustments. Unfortunately, adjusting the sound is not intuitive, (actually, not many of the functions on this stereo are intuitive), and you have to wave your hands around the the panel from one end to get into the equalizer mode, and to the other to make the adjustments. Once your in the adjustment mode (the small circular 4-way button), you have to be careful not to hit left/right button at the wrong time, because the track will change!
On the radio end, the user can customize the station names. If your searching for a new station the left/right buttons on the 4-way button is used. I have not been able yet to figure out how too switch between manual search and auto search, although it seems to switch from time to time. I prefer to have a knob to manually search through stations, which I think is typically quicker when going through a long range.
Although this is my first CD receiver w/MP3 playback and optional satellite/HD radio, bluetooth, functionality, I find it to be the worst of all CD receivers I had in terms of controls. On most systems, I can figure out settings/functions pretty easily from the button location and names, but this system just seems to have buttons in a spot where it fits and makes the face look nice and curvy. If your interested in this, or any other reciever, I would suggest going to an electronics store first to get your hands on the display models and testing. However, if you listen to similar sounding music most of the time, once the sound is optimized it will sound great.
