(More customer reviews)This product had a tweeter stop working for me a short while into the warranty period. I called Infinity corp. and they stated that I had to make a claim through the dealer I bought the system from, in this case it was E & B Electronics. As ridiculous as this sounds I tried it. The guy that answered the phone at E&B told me there is no way they will stand behind the product I bought from them. Then the guy actually tells me "We are not even an authorized dealer, we are just a store that sells a lot of different stuff." UNBELEIVABLE!! Did you know that Amazon apparently sells (through third-party partners like E&B Electronics) grey-market electronics, for which the manufacturer will not honor the stated warranty? I would not have believed this. When Amazon customer assistance did a three way call (which amazon wisely recorded) with me quietly listening to try to resolve this with the dealer, they ranted on at the Amazon representative, and told him to not "even to try to get a word in edgewise, because I can go on like this all day", then he abruptly hung up. The Amazon representative was as shocked at this display of unprofessional treatment towards the company that directs thousands of dollars of sales to them as I was.
In closing, I would highly recommend nobody buy any Infinity product from E&B Electronics as the warranty is not valid, and you will have no recourse if anything goes wrong with your expensive purchase. Stay away from these two companies.

Infinity's 5030cs is a 5-1/4-inch, two-way component system including Plus One woofer and 1-inch textile dome tweeter with I-mount tweeter kit and Starfish OEM adapter.



Infinity 5030cs Features
Plus One woofer cones This patent pending technology deliver a cone with more surface area than competing models of the same size. The result is increased bass output and higher efficiency.
Rubber surrounds This woofer surround material provides optimum cone-edge suspension and absorbs distortions that may travel up the cone edge, adding stronger low-end.
True Four Ohms All Reference speakers feature two ohm voice coils. Original factory-installed speaker wiring in many cars is 18-22 gauge. This wire, and heating in the voice coil when power is applied, increase the impedance "seen" by the amplifier or head unit. The impedance of Reference Speakers has been adjusted to compensate for this increase and can be safely driven by any head unit.
Edge-driven textile dome tweeter These are not commonly used w-domes, but fully-edge-driven domes like those found in better home audio speakers. The benefit is increased power handling and reduced distortion at high output levels. This technology also allows for better integration with the mid/woofer.
Crossover network with tweeter adjustment Each Infinity Reference component system includes a pair of laboratory optimized passive crossover networks that include tweeter adjustment. If the tweeters are located low in the doors or if you are looking for a brighter sound, you can set the tweeter at +3dB.
Versatile Mounting To facilitate proper installation and location of the tweeter, each Reference component system includes Infinity's patented I-Mount (patent no. 5,859,917) tweeter mounting kit including the Starfish OEM adapter.

Pioneer TS-A1302C 5.25-Inch A-Series 120-Watt Component Package Review

In brief, these are exceptional midranges and tweeters that tested extremely flat and smooth from 150hz to 20 k hz in a lab setting. The car setting substantially increases bass below 100hz, so this ends up making a really flat, smooth response "in car". This is exactly what you want. I use 4 of these with a subwoofer. But they are pretty strong even without the sub.
Unfortunate for me, somewhere along my trail of woe of buying and installing Infinity Reference (Excellent too), Polk, Polk Momo, Focal, Kenwood, :Pioneer, I reversed Left Front polarity which made everything screechy by killing bass. Many of those would probably have sounded very good, but these are stellar!
Part of the magic of these speakers is the phase plug in the center... the small truncated cone you see. This phase plug boosts upper midrange (3-9k hz) especially off axis where you need it in a door mounted speaker.
If you can either drill a small hole for a screw for top mount, or drill a hole in your plastic door to surface mount.. both easy if you have the tools .... DEFINITELY BUY COMPONENT SPEAKERS RATHER THAN COAXIALS! And INSTALL THE TWEETER RIGHT BESIDE THE WOOFER, NOT IN A PILLAR, THE TOP OF THE DOOR, ETC. (tweeter on a post of a coaxial creates a sharp dip and corresponding spike in midrange response where the tweeter post reflects and refracts the wave) If the tweeter is not right next to the woofer, the response at your ears will be terrible, with a series of spikes and dips called "comb filter" effect.. because of overlap and cancellation at various frequencies that are multiples of the different distance from woofer to your ear, tweeter to your ears. Cutting a small hole or drilling for surface mount in a plastic door is just not that big a deal for a very important improvement.
You won't find a better sounding composite set at twice the price.
