(More customer reviews)I recently purchased an iPod and I thought that it would be great to be able to take it in the car and not have to worry about taking a bunch of cds with me. There are many products available that will allow you to do so, yet their quality is quite shaky. First there is the FM transmitter that sends the frequency over the radio into your car stereo. This item produces quite a bit of static and requires you to change the station as you move from one area to another. Another solution is an item from Griffen called iTrip. This item also allows you to broadcast a signal over the radio, however, in order to change the station you have to have downloaded a code into your iPod that will play on that station. Obviously this can create a problem for a spur of the moment trip or an trip to another area where you aren't sure of the station code that you will need. Yet another item is from Pioneer and it connects your iPod directly to your stereo. However, this item only allows you to control what you are listening to through the head unit. So in the event that you want to listen to a song that is somewhere in the middle of your playlist, you have to press the forward button until you get there. The solution that I found that works great for me and is particularly inexpensive has been to purchase this part (Pioneer CD-RB10) to connect to the back of my stereo and allow me to plub in something with RCA plugs (those little red and white cables). Then I used an RCA y-cable which will turn a 3.5mm (headphone jack) into two RCA plugs. The result is cd quality music all the time and the ability to control what I'm listening to from my iPod. There is a similar product available from Alpine in the event that you have an Alpine radio.
